Origins of Ecuadorian Coffee
Share
Ecuador has a rich history in the world of coffee exports. Coffee made its way to Ecuador in the mid-19th century, and for a long time, it was one of the country's top exports. However, starting in the 1980s, coffee production started to decrease and has been declining ever since. Ecuadorian coffee makes up less than 1% of global coffee production today. The low prices that coffee has been sold for in recent years have made things even tougher for coffee farmers. Sometimes, the prices they get for their coffee don't even cover the costs of growing it.
